Planning a garage sale in a week is completely doable if you work in the right order.
## Day 1-2: Sort ruthlessly
Go room by room with three boxes: Sell, Donate, Toss. If you have not used it in a year, it goes in a box. Do not price yet — just sort.
## Day 3: Price as a batch
Pricing everything in one sitting keeps your prices consistent. Use simple increments (25 cents, 50 cents, 1, 2, 5 dollars) so making change is easy.
## Day 4: Advertise
Post on Facebook Marketplace, local garage sale groups, Craigslist, and Nextdoor. Include your date, hours, general location, and the best categories you are selling.
## Day 5: Gather supplies
Tables, tablecloths, bags, newspaper for wrapping, extension cords for testing electronics, and a cash box or money apron.
## Day 6: Make signs and get change
Big, bold signs with arrows. Get starting change from the bank: ones, fives, and quarters.
## Day 7: Stage the night before
Group items by category, put big-ticket items near the street, and set an alarm — serious shoppers arrive early.
